ClockIt’s web interface is clean and business-like, albeit with a somewhat dated aesthetic.
The main navigation bar organizes features into five menus: Dashboard, Manager Dashboard, Reports, Company, and Help. Each has a dropdown of sub-features, so virtually everything is a couple of clicks away.
For instance, under Dashboard, you’ll find everyday tools like Vacations & Leaves, Documents, Business Travel, Correction Request, Projects and Tasks, Route Planner, Support Desk, and a team Schedule Planner.
The Manager Dashboard menu is for supervisory views (team stats, attendance audits, leave approvals, time entries, correction requests, mobile tracking, etc.).
The Reports menu offers various analytics and exportable reports. When you click the menu, you can open the Basic Report, Manager’s Basic Report, and Dynamic Report, as well as Attendance Audit and Realtime Mobile Tracking.
The Company menu is the admin area for configuring users, departments, sites, projects, devices, PTO and overtime policies, shifts, pay periods, templates, routes, and permissions.
Lastly, the Help menu links to support resources from the ClockIt team. You can find categorized articles with advice and answers for common questions by ClockIt users.
The dashboard presents live information at a glance: how many employees you have and how many are currently in, out, absent, on approved or unapproved leave, on business travel, and more. There’s also an “Auto Refresh” toggle to live-update the status screen.
The Punch In/Out button is small but visible for admins clocking themselves or for quick access to the time clock.
There are also clear indicators for employee status (for example, an ABSENT label if someone is out) and filters to view specific sites or departments.
Overall, navigation is intuitive. The layout of tabs and drop-down menus makes it easy to jump to the desired section.
But because all features are enabled from the start, new admins might find the sheer number of menu options overwhelming and the interface cluttered.
For example, the Company tab alone includes over 10 settings, which could intimidate first-time users.
The UI design is functional but a bit outdated in style. Lots of white and gray, simple tables, and standard form controls give it a utilitarian look. Some extra color or modern design touches could improve visual appeal, though this is subjective.
On the positive side, the learning curve is relatively gentle. Once you click around a bit, the terminology and layout start to make sense since most features are self-explanatory.
And if you do get lost, the Help button and support chat are there to assist.
The Mobile App Experience: A Mixed Bag
The ClockIt app is available for both Android and iOS, which is crucial for a time clock system. When logging in, you’ll see the main screen with the current date and the time clock.
The ClockIt app menu (accessible via a sidebar) is organized into sections like Actions (for Home, Check In/Out), Company (for things like viewing an attendance audit or company announcements), Team (team leave calendars, travels, corrections), My Profile (personal leave balances, my schedule, etc.), and Support.
This means employees can perform essential tasks on mobile: clock in/out (with GPS capture), request time-off, submit correction requests if they forgot to punch, and view their schedule or remaining PTO.
Managers using the mobile app can approve or deny these requests on the go and check who’s currently clocked in from their team.
The ClockIt app is straightforward for basic clock operations. It even supports features like photo capture on punch-in or out (if the admin enabled it to prevent buddy-punching).
GPS and geofence features are also integrated, so the app may record the device’s location or enforce location rules when clocking in/out.
We did notice the mobile app is primarily geared toward employees. Certain admin functions (like creating reports or editing company settings) must be done on the web.
The mobile Company and Team sections mostly allow viewing data, like team attendance or approvals, rather than complex configuration, which is fine for an on-the-go tool. For a manager in the field, the app provides enough info to monitor attendance and respond to requests without needing a laptop.
It would be better, though, to have the Punch In button on the main screen instead of on the sidebar menu.
Also, the Punch button did change to Punch Out when you clock in. But since the main screen only displays how long you’ve been clocked in and the total time logged for the day (in tiny and light-colored fonts at that), this might create confusion.
We recommend new users test the mobile app in a small pilot (with a few employees and managers) to ensure everyone understands the punch workflow before rolling it out company-wide.
