What Real People Say About Workyard
Workyard users say the app’s time tracking capabilities helped them focus on improving their work and businesses.
iOS user Ahleh888 says the app eliminated his worries about losing his worked hours:
This app works – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I used a different app at my last company that crashed and randomly lost my hours. Caused me more grief than it was worth. Workyard has been great so far. App just works. Maybe that shouldn’t be something to brag about, but there it is.
Android user Justin Sauter says Workyard is convenient to use:
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Works great and very convenient!!! Love that it reminds me to clock in when on site. Definitely recommend
Workyard user Jose M. says the app improved his business efficiency. However, he wishes there was an option to integrate with Google Calendar:
Business Origination – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Overall: Our business has improved dramatically due to schedule improvements and cost code help us see where we are successful and where we need improve to have better services for our customers.
Pros: The most impactful thing is how using all the tool from scheduling to cost codes to time cost reports helped streamline our business. Shows us where we need to improve and where we’re successful.
Cons: So far I have not learned all the tools useful to my business there are so many. I would change the easy of administrators to change things via mobile phones. Also integrating with google calendar to help block off unavailable times.

Reviews
Buildertrend users say the app does its job, but recent (and frequent) updates fouled their experience.
iOS user MrOBrian wasn’t happy with the new version of the app:
New version is unintuitive ⭐⭐
This app used to be very helpful for coordinating with my contractor, but now I find that I avoid using it. It’s too difficult to find anything anymore. Right now I have no idea if I have any outstanding invoices because I can’t find that in the interface anymore. To get to Messages you now have to go under the More tab, which seems odd. It used to be on the home page.
I very, very, very often run into bugs with this app, like it saying that I have no job selected after selecting a job, and then the link to select a job says there are no jobs, but if I go under the More tab I can see all the jobs. Also, every time I start a new job with my contractor I have to contact Buildertrend support to fix my account because it completely breaks. Every single time.
Android user Jacob Kirk found the high price tag a pain:
Android user Jacob Kirk says:
⭐
For almost $10,000 a year, I am very disappointed. Almost every part of their software has failings that make it hard and cumbersome to use. There could be so many easy things they could do to make it as powerful as they claim it is, but at the rate they seem to make improvements 9r fix hugs, it may take years to reach its potential. It seems like it was started by a builder who knew construction, but software engineers took over, and now it often times the process doesn’t make sense 4 building.
Buildertrend user Katie K. says the app does its job, but frequent updates don’t fit well with a busy schedule:
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Pros: Our team uses the scheduling tool and invitation to invite subcontractors to participate most often, allowing transparency in each project. Our showrooms are getting on board as well, it cuts down communication and adds eyes onto the project timeline for added accountability.
Cons: We don’t have any complaints, the software exceeds the capabilities we need, leaving us with continued learning opportunities. More frequent scheduled training would be a bonus for those who have busy schedules, and the technology moves fast! However, we feel good the this software continues to innovate and listens to what its users need.

Reviews
Procore users found the software useful for managing projects, but some said that the app offered low value for the cost.
An iOS user (‘An actual real review!‘) was happy with Procore’s mobile functionality:
I wish all of our contractors used Procore! – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Our organization owns multiple buildings and we add or remodel several. We have two main general contractors that we use. One uses Procore and another uses a different system. For our projects on Procore it’s so easy to pull up something on my phone if I have a question or a thought. The app is easy to navigate and has all of the features I’d hoped for. It’s so handy that I’m going to try to get my organization to use it for our internal projects!
The competitor only has a desktop application which makes it a frustrating experience when trying to look up things on those projects.
Android user Ian McMurray says the latest update messed up the time clock:
⭐⭐⭐
Latest update broken, unable to clock in to job, going to cause major problems when trying to get paid.
Procore user Erica R. appreciated the app’s ability to track multiple projects, but cited low value for the cost:
Procore Could Use Work – ⭐⭐⭐
Pros: Able to add and track multiple projects and coding
Cons: Not worth what you pay for the program.

Autodesk integrates with other leading project management and business tools, like Asana, Airtable, QuickBooks Desktop, and Raken.
What Real People Say About Autodesk
Autodesk users were impressed with the platform’s features, but found issues with the mobile experience and customer service.
iOS user iree75 says the app is good for facilitating collaboration, but needs to be streamlined for large groups of users:
Good for plans … not much for anything else -⭐⭐
Where to start.. The positive: great markup tool for plans and reliable distribution to the field personnel …
The negative: The administration of this tool is horrible if you have anymore than a handful of users and projects. We have over 100 and 70 users … need to add a new user to each project ? Go to every project and add their email … type their email in wrong ? oh too bad there are no checks to see if that email exists within your org. File uploading has no granularity of settings … no hyper links to external files sources … no way to see any cross user metrics except who is modifying project data … no way to see if client apps need to be upgraded … just to start.
ome of these things could be fixed via api scripting or the workato automation … so i’m paying for an app i need to script ? Project management tools are worthless at scale. So if you buy this to distribute and collaborate plans … fine.. but it does not scale, and there are cheaper products without the worthless project management part.
Android user Jay G. says the app could be more streamlined for user workflows in light of the high fees:
⭐
Should at least have the option to view the project without downloading pages first in the app, PC browser allows this. Even if you select “No sheets to be downloaded” it dumps the entire project onto your device. Also does not redraw any windows when going to view tasks. Literally cant see any of them on mobile and the sidebar stays in the same spot. This app needs attention for the unlimited sheet subscription fees you charge.
Autodesk user Mathew H. says the app is easy to use, but struggles on LTE connection:
Plangrid ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Overall: Great. The app is extremely intuative so the learning curve is reduced and simple. Just looks more complicated then it really is.
Pros: Document viewing the Field is a necessity. Linking RFI’s and submittals to the drawings makes things clear and reduces misses during construction.
Cons: Sometimes sync issue while uploading photos and documents while changing from WIFI to LTE. Sometimes the sync needs to be cleared and redone.

ClickUp integrates with third-party apps and systems, including Slack, GitHub, Google Drive, Salesforce, WebWork Time Track, and others.
What Real People Say About ClickUp
ClickUp users say they prefer the web platform over the mobile versions, for good reason.
iOS user Nny.00 says that while the app offers a lot of features, not all of these are ready for mobile usage:
I prefer the browser version. – ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I’m a new user to project management apps and ClickUp and so I can’t say I’ve had anything else to compare it to. But I am a designer and I have to say the app UI leaves something to be desired. It doesn’t feel intuitive and just gets me frustrated using it. The browser version is much more easier to use and I prefer to sign on through the browser on my iPad rather than the app.
I hope the design team at ClickUp will consider redoing the UI in a way that makes it easier to use and understand right away. I don’t enjoy having to really think about how to get to my tasks/subtasks when I have to get them done.
As far as features that ClickUp has to offer, I am happy that there are so many ways of customization that can allow for different brains to process information easiest to them. This allows for everyone on the team to work the best way suited to them. This is one of the main reasons why I continue to use ClickUp. Inclusive design rather than exclusive design!
Android user Grace Lbng says the app integrates well with external apps, but features freeze when there is no connection:
⭐⭐
I love how you can integrate Google Calendar with the application (clickup to gcal and gcal to clickup). Unfortunately, many of the app’s features are non-functional when offline which is a deal breaker. I personally like to see tasks in spaces and in the calendar regardless of connectivity (in offline mode, it shows “Connection Error”). Additionally, reminders only show when connected to the internet as well, which sucks because I don’t have connection all the time. On to the next app, I guess!
ClickUp user John Epok P. says the app comes with many features. However, it can overwhelm new users like him
Extensive Project Management Platform –⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Overall: My overall experience was pleasant as generally, coming from Google Sheets, Click Up is a way lot better in terms of project management.
Pros: Tons of features to use. Gives holistic view of projects and provide tracking notification on what needs to be done on a certain day versus deadline. Tasks can be assigned via POCs and group of POCs and they will get a notification for it. Project duration can be tracked through summation on start and end time.
Cons: As a first time user, these tons of features can be intimidating hence it would need a few hours to be familiarized on all the features.

Reviews
Contractor Foreman users were happy with the range of features that came with the software, but encountered multiple issues within the platform.
iOS user SVBSR is happy with the app’s range of features:
This App has more then we need and is great to be able to grow into it – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This application is great! We have a small general contracting company. The application can do more then we need but we love that we can grow with the application. The application seamlessly connects to quick books and helps with payroll processing! We love that the developers continue to add new features that help us be more organized which makes us more productive and profitable!
Android user Lucky is not so happy with the photo attachment feature:
⭐⭐
Used contractor Foreman for a few years now and I really love many things about the software. Done a great job with updates/features. My only issue is the difficulty with this app. Photos take a long time to upload even with a high MBPS, sometimes won’t save or even load app. It has gotten frustrating for my managers to complete daily logs (an important part of their jobs). Please give these app issues some attention. Otherwise would be 5 stars hands down.
Contractor Foreman user Danielle C. felt cheated with the lack of customer support after signing up:
There is no assistance with software issues once you pay the annual software costs ⭐⭐⭐
Pros: The concepts of what is could potentially do.
Cons: I have been trying to obtain assistance with QB integration and have sent over 7 separate requests to Contractor Foreman for help. I waited until after our trial period was up to attempt to set up the QB integration as I wanted to make sure we were going to proceed with the software before integrating. There is no support despite all my emails requesting assistance. We regret committing to the annual cost of the software. You will be flooded with emails offering support during your trial which is very misleading. Anticipate no help once you pay your premium.

What Real People Say About Houzz Pro
Houzz Pro users say the app shines in its ability to manage leads and clients. However, its range of features could be improved.
iOS user blossomirror says Houzz Pro’s features were okay, but not impressive:
iOS user blossomirror says:
Avoid this app ⭐
I highly recommend against this app. Sure, there are a lot of “free trials” out there that make you put in a credit card number, and then you forget to cancel in time, and then they charge you. Be warned, this app will charge you $199 per month, and if you cancel even a minute after your renewal, they will stick to their terms and screw you out of your money even though you don’t want to use their service.I was unfortunately on vacation in Mexico at the time my trial was expiring so I missed it when it came through. I cancelled probably 7 or 8 hours after the renewal deadline when I finally saw it. Like I said, I would avoid this app like the plague. Also, besides the money scam, this app is so-so in terms of features. They are trying to create a “do everything” app, and the end result comes out weak.
Houzz Pro user Micheal M. says the app excels in its CRM capabilities, but features were limited:
houzz pro maturing to another level ⭐⭐⭐
Overall: iniatialy used as a way to get homeowners leads its moving to an all professional construction software but still with limitations for Canada
Pros: Multiple functions CRM applications look and feel
Cons: For Canadians the product does not carry all the functionality and is still a little clunky

Our Scoring System Explained
Our 8-part scoring system was created to help you understand the potential value of any software we review simply and fairly.
We created it after reviewing dozens of software products, which we covered in depth, but without providing a direct and simple way for readers to compare products on their merits – without spending a lot of time looking through our articles for the information they needed to make an informed decision.
Every app we review will include Customer Support and Company scores, which we’ll explain in more detail below. Many of the factors reviewed in this article will also be consistent across most (or all) of our software reviews, with some differences:
The 8 factors assessed and their contribution to a product’s overall score may differ slightly from product to product based on various factors, such as the use case we’re reviewing for, the type of business these products are tailored to, and other considerations. However, all reviews will feature an 8-part score, weighted and combined to calculate each product’s overall score.
How We Score Software
All factors in our reviews are scored on a 10-point scale – technically 11 points – from 0-10. However, we only give products a score of 0 if it does not include an essential feature at all, and we try to avoid giving out 0 scores if a product can demonstrate any functionality in line with the specific factor being reviewed.
In general, the 0-10 range translates as:
- 9.0 – 10 – One of the absolute best in its category (amazing).
- 7.5 – 8.9 – Very good, but with some minor issues (very good).
- 6.0 – 7.4 – Mediocre performance with notable shortcomings (average).
- 3.0 – 5.9 – This feature is not ready for prime time (borderline).
- 1.0 – 2.9 – This feature actually makes its product worse (unacceptable).

Methodology for Each Factor
Ease of Use
We evaluate a product’s ease of use based on three main considerations:
- How easy is it to set up this app?
- How easy is it for managers to use the backend dashboard?
- How easy is it for frontline workers to use the (mobile) app?
These three considerations cover the main ways you and your team would use the software being reviewed – when you first obtain it, when someone (a manager, executive, team leader, or similar role) needs to use it to manage people, money, data, and other things, and when workers you’re tracking use the app (usually a mobile version of the software designed for frontline and/or field team members) to clock in, clock out, record time worked, or address other day-to-day needs.
Time Tracking Accuracy
Every minute matters when you’re trying to control payroll costs. This factor accounts for various features and common needs in time-tracking apps, such as…
- How accurate or precise is its GPS tracking capability?
- How accurate – and how customizable – is its geofencing feature?
- How accurate is its travel and mileage tracking (if available)?
- Can it automatically clock workers in and out based on the above?
- Can you set and/or restrict rules for clocking in and out?
- Can the app continue tracking workers while offline?
- How easy is its mobile app and/or kiosk for frontline workers?
Scheduling Features
Many construction businesses prefer to manage as many aspects of employee labor activity as possible in a single app, which is why many time-tracking apps also include worker scheduling as a core feature.
When we consider a product’s scheduling features, we look at:
- Its dashboard customizability (daily, weekly, or monthly views).
- Its project-based scheduling and visibility.
- Its real-time updates and notifications for workers.
- Its real-time map views of worker locations for best-fit scheduling.
- Its recurring schedule (copies to subsequent weeks, etc.) functionality.
Job Tracking
This factor helps you understand if the software can also provide insight into specific projects, which is particularly handy when your business deals with many customers or clients who generally need shorter-term work. Effective job tracking typically also includes accurate job costing functionality for construction companies.
We assess several things when calculating a product’s job tracking score:
- Its project-based tracking for multiple projects per day/week/etc.
- Its ability to track multiple / many projects simultaneously.
- Its use of (and your ability to customize) construction cost codes.
- Any built-in job costing views.
- Any integrations for cost coding (QuickBooks etc.)
Integrations
No business can operate on a single app, which is why integrations with other apps and tools are such important aspects of modern business software.
To calculate a product’s integration score, we’ll examine:
- How many native integrations (the simplest connection) does it offer?
- How effective and easy-to-use are its integrations with payroll software?
- Does it have robust data import and export features?
Customer Support
Learning how to use a new app can be frustrating, even if it’s meant to be the most user-friendly app around. That’s why great customer support is so essential when considering which time-tracking app to use.
Customer support scores are calculated based on:
- Live support channels available (phone, email, chat, etc.).
- Live support hours (business hours only, 24/7, etc.).
- The strength of the product’s online help center and/or FAQs.
- What other users say about support in online reviews.
Company
A great company with a highly customer-friendly approach can often make up for shortcomings in their software products – at least up to a point.
When assessing this score, we’ll examine:
- Transparency (easy-to-find pricing, etc.)
- Trial period (duration, feature availability, credit card requirements, etc.).
- Subscription flexibility (contracts, required durations, etc.).
- Ease of cancellation or pausing subscriptions.
- Customer perceptions (online product reviews).
- Website (a minor consideration, but great companies tend to have great websites).
