The TimeCamp Mobile Experience
TimeCamp’s mobile app mirrors the clean UI of its web version.
The Timesheet page serves as the primary screen, featuring a swipeable calendar at the top to easily view your tracked time for the day.
The bottom menu features three main icons corresponding to Timesheet, Reports, and Projects.
Users can start tracking time by tapping the timer button. If no project has been selected yet, this brings you to the Projects page and starts tracking time for your selected task. Once you’re done tracking time, stopping the timer will automatically log and allocate the time tracked to your selected project/task.
The mobile app also allows you to add tags and notes to your tasks. It also offers options for customizing the date and time format, duration format (HH:MM, decimal, etc.), and week start day.
Finally, the Reports page displays the total time for projects and tasks tracked, with views for the current/ previous week or month, as well as a custom date range view.

TimeCamp Track – Timesheet and Expenses
Timesheet sits at the top of the left-hand menu items.
The main dashboard displays Timesheet controls including options for daily/weekly/custom dates in calendar view. The dash also displays a detailed list view of current projects and a timer button for individual projects.
Users can either start the timer or add time manually for specific projects. The system automatically logs tracked time to specific projects and allows you to add time to existing entries, add new time entries, copy time entries from previous sheets, or edit time entries in bulk.
You can also search for users and organize time entries by project, time entries, and favorites for easy navigation. TimeCamp gives you admin controls to synchronize time frames with duration and modify time in existing entries.
Clicking on a task brings up controls for selecting tags, showing reports, changing time entry, accessing time entry history, making time unbillable, cloning time entry, and deleting time records. Admins can define time tracking rules and set up notifications to remind users to start or stop their timers.
The platform also includes a timesheet history log to keep modifications traceable in case of accidental errors or deletions.
In mobile view, Timesheets work the same way, albeit with less functionality around time controls and editing.
Expenses is where you can track job costs for your projects and tasks.
You can categorize expenses, add amounts, and label expenses as billable or unbillable. You can also provide descriptions and photos to jobs and assign expenses to projects and team members.
The Expenses module is available in the Ultimate Plan. To use this module, you’ll need to activate the Billing and Time Tracking modules first in your account.





TimeCamp Reporting
The Reports section offers reporting options for time tracked, finances, computer activities, and other custom data.
You can create summary, detailed, and daily Time reports. You can also create People reports by tasks, days, a combination of days and tasks, and by projects. These can be sent out as periodical emails.
TimeCamp offers sophisticated export options including sharing reports through a link, via Google Spreadsheet, or as PDF or CSV. Finance reports allow you to create reports for billable and non-billable time, estimates, revenues, costs, and margins.



Computer Activities reporting covers employee activity including computer usage, away time, time spent on apps and websites.
The desktop app also tracks time spent on projects and tasks using an automatic stopwatch. TimeCamp’s desktop app works even when offline. TimeCamp creates a timeline of computer usage and tracks efficiency along with goal completion. It also monitors user statistics.
All of these features are activated by default when you download the app, but you can change the desktop app behavior by customizing the app’s settings.
Custom Reports were not available in the free trial, but we expect it to offer broader fields and categories for reporting.
Managing Projects in TimeCamp
TimeCamp has a dedicated section for managing projects where you can search, edit, and import specific tasks or projects.
Projects follow a tree structure, where each project contains multiple tasks. Users can search, edit, and import tasks, assign roles, and define budgeting parameters to track performance. The system also supports archiving completed tasks, allowing users to retain historical data for future reference.
Clicking a project opens up a mini-set of controls including adding tasks, creating reports, editing task details, and more. Surprisingly, the green timer button appears when you click a task to edit.
Starting the timer button instantly takes you back to the Timesheet page, discarding all edits made to your project unless you first click Save at the bottom of the Projects screen. This functionality feels a little out of place in the project management section, honestly, and can take you unawares if you’re unfamiliar with the workflow.
You can also add tag lists and set billing rates with options for international currency, rate value history, and billing types (revenue or cost). TimeCamp also allows you to set specific billing rates for users, groups, and projects as necessary.
TimeCamp offers Geofencing capabilities where you can track users on a real-time map.
However, you need to activate this module before you can access it on the dash. Even then, the app takes you to a separate site to track employees using GPS. This makes it apparent that geofencing and GPS tracking are not a primary focus for TimeCamp, presenting them as more like add-ons than core features.





To track teams on the map, you need to set a job site and assign users.
You can configure automatic timer actions to start after an arrival delay of a period of time (from a minute to up to two hours). You can also set up notifications when assigned users/workers arrive or depart from their designated job sites.
We took TimeCamp for a road test and found that while it logged time through manual entry on the mobile app, its GPS tracking and real-time map visibility were not up to snuff.
Even when we followed the steps outlined on its site, the app failed to automatically clock-in and clock-out assigned workers based on geofenced locations. There were also no notifications when assigned users arrived on site or departed from it.
Perhaps it was an issue of mobile data connection, but other GPS tracking apps we’ve tested for our reviews have proven up to the task given the same test conditions.
Teams in TimeCamp
The ‘Team’ section in TimeCamp is where you manage users and monitor employee attendance. You can invite employees and guests like clients, vendors, and contractors. As of the time of our testing, TimeCamp promises that adding guests to your account is free of charge.
The Users dashboard allows you to create groups, track the number of seats, and search users. The functionality ‘change number of seats’ is a clever invitation to up your subscription to TimeCamp’s higher tiers.
Users can be grouped based on company structure, making it easier to manage larger teams. Admins can add users, assign roles, and configure permissions. Inactive users can be disabled while retaining their historical data and records.
Attendance gives you a detailed view of your tracked time and a few broad numbers pertaining to your daily attendance.
Honestly, this section feels like Timesheet on steroids due to the sheer amount of minute details on tracked hours. It includes statistics on time tracked per day, total time tracked, total time between first and last entry, and even hours spent on vacation.
There’s not much information on attendance days aside from the type of day (working/non-working/etc.), and a summary of worked days at the bottom of the page.
Timesheet Approvals includes admin control such as blocking off time entry changes once admins approve workers’ timesheets.
Admins can set automatic timesheet submission at specific days and hours, limit approval periods to daily or weekly frequency, and enable hierarchical reporting structures.





Clients in TimeCamp
This section gives you admin controls on clients and job invoices. The Clients dashboard organizes clients by organization, contact, and email. You can also set specific international currencies for invoicing.
The Invoicing section enables you to create an invoice from scratch or generate one from time entries (labeled as project hours).
The Invoicing dashboard displays invoices and quotes, and allows you to search either by text, month, and year. To generate invoices, you need to add your company name, logo, and address in the Settings panel.
TimeCamp’s invoicing integrates with QuickBooks. However, invoicing is an add-on feature and may not be available in lower-tier plans.




Integrating Other Business Apps With TimeCamp
TimeCamp offers integrations with personal apps like iCal and Google Calendar. It also connects to project management apps like ClickUp, Dropbox Paper, Monday, and Trello among others.
Aside from these, TimeCamp integrates with help desks, IT systems, CRMs, and various team collaboration apps. However, it only connects to two accounting tools, QuickBooks and Xero.

The TimeCamp app lacks verification features as well such as facial detection. It’s hard to see how one could prevent buddy punching, time fraud, or plain time theft with what TimeCamp has to offer at present.
If your company relies heavily on GPS tracking for field employees, you might find TimeCamp lacking. Its geofencing capabilities feel like an afterthought, directing users to an external site rather than integrating seamlessly within the app.

Cons: Timecamp is a great tool for tracking the time spent on various activities, and it functions well in that regard. However, the lack of solid customer service policies significantly diminishes its value. I’ve contacted them multiple times with questions, but instead of receiving helpful assistance, I was simply directed to their articles. In today’s world, where customer service is crucial to success, it’s surprising that they don’t prioritize it. It seems like they’re too confident in their product, believing it can succeed on its own without making an effort to support their users.
