What it’s Like to Get Started With Typeform
Signing up for Typeform was straightforward.
On the homepage, there’s a prominent button labeled “Get started for free.” Clicking it opens a sign-up page where you can use your email, or create an account with your Google, or Microsoft account’s SSO features— I used Google. After agreeing to the terms, I was immediately in, no credit card needed.
Once logged in, Typeform asks a few quick questions about how you’ll use the platform and how you prefer to create forms: from scratch, by uploading questions, or using AI-generated forms. I chose “Start from scratch,” selected the “Contacts” element, and was taken straight to the form editor.
In the editor, the first element you selected appears right away. Adding more questions involves clicking the “Add Content” button in the top-left corner, which brings back the elements panel. Your added questions appear neatly as buttons in a list on the left side rather than cluttering the main form view.

The next step prompted me to describe the overall goal of my form, similar to interacting with other generative AI tools.
After typing my form’s objective, Typeform asked me to specify two key questions or topics to guide the AI. Once provided, the AI generated a comprehensive list of related questions that fit my stated goals. The process felt intuitive and significantly sped up the initial form creation.
After AI-generated questions were ready, I could tweak each element further, adjust settings, or use the visual design options to match our branding — colors, logos, and fonts — just as with manually created forms.
Once you start receiving responses, a new tab will appear on top of your form editor. It says “Results” and there you will see a report of the responses. It gives you the total responses received, the completion rate, and time it took to complete. Higher plans also show you a question drop-off rate.
Still, overall, the Typeform web interface made form building accessible and intuitive, with the AI-powered question generator standing out as a particularly helpful time-saver for quickly drafting detailed, goal-oriented forms.
The Mobile App Experience – Great for Filling, Not for Building
Typeform doesn’t have a dedicated mobile app, so I tested it on my phone using the browser. While it loaded properly and was technically usable, the web app felt crowded on a smaller screen, making form creation and editing challenging.
