Let’s take a closer look at how each component of Workyard’s software can significantly improve the way businesses track, manage, and report on their operations.
GPS Fleet Tracking and Precise GPS Monitoring
Workyard’s GPS-powered time clock uses the existing GPS functionality in employees’ smartphones to offer precise and reliable fleet tracking. There is no need for additional hardware, so you can save on cost and simplify your deployment process.
GPS tracking helps you monitor vehicle location in real time, so you can respond swiftly to customer needs and optimize route planning. With real-time tracking, managers are always aware of where their assets are, thus improving security and operational efficiency.
Workyard’s Precise GPS Monitoring feature extends the functionality by providing detailed insights into the arrival and departure times of vehicles at job sites. This is particularly useful for verifying billing and improving job costing accuracy.
If you manage multiple projects or large fleets, GPS monitoring allows for the detailed tracking of locations, mileage, and hours worked, ensuring that resources are utilized efficiently and projects stay on budget.
Enhanced GPS monitoring also helps maintain accurate logs, which are essential for compliance and reporting.
Configurable Geofencing and Built-in Time Clock
Configurable geofencing in Workyard allows companies to set virtual boundaries around specific locations or job sites.
When a vehicle enters or exits these geofenced areas, managers receive instant alerts, and employees are automatically reminded to clock in or out, ensuring accurate timekeeping. This feature can help maintain operational control and reduce time theft.
The built-in time clock feature complements the geofencing capability by providing a robust solution for tracking work hours.
This system captures clock-in and clock-out times and tracks breaks and overtime, ensuring compliance with labor laws. Automated alerts help quickly identify and address any discrepancies in time records, which is vital for payroll accuracy and avoiding legal issues related to wage and hour laws.
Drag-and-Drop Scheduler and Job Tracking Software
Workyard’s drag-and-drop scheduler is a powerful tool for fleet companies, facilitating efficient scheduling of jobs, vehicles, and personnel.
Managers can easily assign tasks, update schedules in real time, and communicate changes to drivers via the app. This feature ensures everyone is up-to-date.
The scheduler also works with other features, such as GPS tracking and geofencing, providing a holistic view of fleet operations.
Meanwhile, Workyard’s job tracking software enables detailed monitoring of project progress and resource allocation. It allows fleet managers to track job statuses, monitor costs, and ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
This software is crucial for identifying bottlenecks, optimizing resource usage, and improving project management practices across the board.
Cost Tracking Software and Reporting
Workyard’s cost tracking software is designed to help fleet companies manage and control project costs effectively. It tracks all expenses related to each job, including labor, materials, and overhead, providing a comprehensive view of financial performance.
This feature allows managers to identify cost overruns early, adjust project plans as needed, and ensure profitability. The ability to track costs in real time helps companies maintain tight financial controls.
The reporting feature consolidates data from various sources into actionable insights. It offers customizable reports on aspects such as labor costs, project progress, and fleet utilization.
These reports are essential for strategic planning, performance assessment, and compliance with industry standards.
By providing detailed and accurate reports, Workyard enables fleet management companies to improve transparency, accountability, and overall business intelligence.
Integrated Time Tracking and Cost-Effectiveness
Workyard enhances its fleet management capabilities through robust integrations with popular accounting and payroll software.
These integrations make it more efficient to manage work hours and payroll by syncing time-tracking data directly with systems like QuickBooks, Xero, and ADP.
This connectivity ensures time data is accurately reflected in payroll calculations, reducing the manual effort required and minimizing errors.
By integrating with leading payroll providers, Workyard streamlines administrative workloads while enhancing the reliability of payroll processing. This is particularly beneficial for businesses looking to maintain compliance with labor laws while reducing administrative overhead.
The integration capabilities of Workyard make it a more “all-in-one” solution, enabling businesses to manage time tracking, payroll processing, and compliance efficiently with a single platform.

Theodore appreciates the app for making his work experience less unpleasant by ensuring precise time tracking, which his employer values for minimizing time wastage and boosting profitability.

Joseph H. appreciates the product for enhancing time tracking and billing accuracy but faces challenges with reactivating accounts and setting up new devices for employees, possibly due to user error.
Capterra Review:
Happy Customer – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“Overall I’m pleased with the product and customer service and support.Pros: I like the ease of being able to track our employees time and accuracy of presence on a job. We are able to utilize the time clock feature so we can give an accurate accounting of billable time to our clients. A lot of our services are billed out by the hour rather than by the job.
Cons: The only thing I have been displeased with so far is the deactivation and reactivation of an employee. I’ve had issues with rehiring someone and trying to reactivate their status and haven’t been able to properly set them back up to use the app again on their phones. Also I’ve had issues trying to setup guys that have had to replace their phones and they can’t get the app to work on their new phone. I’m not sure that this is a Workyard issue rather than a user error.

The mobile app is very user-friendly, GPS locations load fast, almost immediately we like the view both on mobile and desktop, the loading time, the ease of the reports, the multitude of reports that we can get.The number of features Samara has is very beneficial. It all allows you to turn these features on or off depending on your needs. we have already recommended Samsara to another business.”

Wesley, a dispatch manager, finds Samsara outstanding for accurately tracking and monitoring his fleet, including safety inspections and driver logs. His only downside is the service’s price.
Capterra Review:

Reviews
Users have shared a variety of experiences with Force by Mojio’s GPS fleet tracking software. Many praise its ease of use and installation, highlighting significant time savings and effective fleet management. However, some users report issues with mobile app functionality and integration, indicating room for improvement. Here are some detailed reviews to give you a better understanding of the software’s performance and user satisfaction.
i4thefunofits finds the program decent but feels it needs significant improvements, particularly in integration with Housecall Pro and functionality like dash cameras and live tracking.
iOS Review:
Ehhh – ⭐⭐⭐
“I typically don’t like to leave bad reviews. In fact, I wouldn’t even say that bad per se. It’s a pretty decent program, but it definitely needs a lot of correcting. We have it set up to Housecall Pro and it doesn’t even seem to be set up right. Even though I added the vehicles, it’s still telling our account that it’s not added to vehicles. Somehow they show? Anyway, I feel like they could be a little bit better by adding features such as dash camera and live moving vehicles tracking so we can mount the TV in our office like we used to with Verizon. Anyhow, I’ll change my review when I see the bugs worked out and the system runs smoother.”
Brenda K finds the service and desktop app effective, but the mobile app is problematic as it fails to load alerts about her vehicles, making it unusable due to excessive loading times.
Google Play Review:
⭐⭐⭐
“Mobile App never loads. While service and desktop app work well, my mobile app notifies me of alerts about my vehicles, but when I go to the app, it will just keep loading indefinitely or as long as I have attempted. I don’t know if you have to wait like longer than a couple minutes for it to load, but if so it’s worthless to me I don’t have time to wait for it to load that long My screen times out and when I pull it back up it’s still loading, rendering the mobile app worthless to me.”
Matt G., an owner in the building materials industry, finds Force by Mojio exceptionally easy to use and install, saving him 1-2 hours a week by knowing exactly where his crews are and the routes they took. He couldn’t think of any cons, giving the software a perfect rating.
Capterra Review:
Easy GPS Tracking – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“Overall: I was constantly running around looking for the crews, took me 1-2 hours a week. Now, I know exactly where they are and the route they took to get there.Pros: Ease of use and installation was a breeze
Cons: I can not think of any cons with Force by Mojio.”

Reviews
Force Fleet users praise its ease of use, effective vehicle tracking, and comprehensive data, which enhance driving safety and operational efficiency.
However, some have reported issues such as slow mobile app performance, inaccurate trip logging, and a need for more flexible reporting options.
Mark Penninger likes the product for increasing his driving awareness and fostering competition among colleagues but finds the scoring system unfair for those who drive less, as their scores are disproportionately affected by minor infractions.
iOS Review:
Good product – ⭐⭐⭐⭐
“I do like the product as it does make me more aware of how I am driving. And we use it in company as a competition between foreman of the same trade. The only thing I don’t really like about the app is that because I drive less than others in our company it seems like if I do get dinged it hurts my score a lot worse than others that drive farther. It does not seem fair that my score is impacted harder for a similar thing than others because they live farther away.”
Nick Hathaway finds the app to inaccurately displays the same scores for braking, acceleration, and speeding. He once mistakenly logged a co-worker’s van as his own. Additionally, he feels the scoring criteria are vague and lack specific feedback on driving errors.
Google Play Review:
⭐⭐
“1. On the score page, the app always shows the braking, acceleration and speeding scores as the same numbers. Other users may have different scores for each category. 2. When my van was parked next to a co-worker’s van, his van showed up on my trip log. 3. Also, the criteria for scores is very vague and there’s no specific feedback as to what the driver did wrong.”
Timothy S. finds Azuga Fleet effective for tracking vehicles and monitoring driver behavior, leading to increased safe driving and reduced costs. He appreciates the API access for comprehensive reporting but desires more flexibility in the reporting and notification structure.
Capterra Review:
Fleet tracking made easy and extendable – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“Overall: We have seen an increase in safe driving across the board, though to be fair it took some time to get a decent level of buy-in from our field employees. Culture isn’t something that tech can change but with enough effort and explaining the benefits that affect everyone (I.e. lower driving and maintenance costs mean more money to put towards raises, improving equipment, and other fun stuff, etc.) people will get on board eventually.Pros: Azuga Fleet makes it easy to track vehicles and keep tabs on the operators driving as well. It is easy to see if particular individuals are speeding, hard braking or accelerating, etc. While we don’t use it, they also have the ability to implement a rewards program to incentivize your drivers. One of the aspects that really sets Azuga apart however is the ability to access your data through an API. This means that we can pull all our safety related data into one reporting program. Super great company and I would highly recommend them to anyone!
Cons: I guess if I was to nitpick, I would say that I would like a little more flexibility with the reporting/notification structure. It’s serviceable but does feel a bit clunky.”

TDF #1 warns against ordering dash cams from this company, citing deceptive sales practices and a non-functional product on cellphones or tablets. Additionally, they report poor customer service and being trapped in a year-long contract despite the product issues.
iOS Review:
Dash Cam problem – ⭐
“This message is for owner operators. Do not ever order the dash cam from this company. The sales team will deceive you that you could access the dash cam on your cellphone or tablet. They pushed me to sign the contract through docusign. Guess what, after I received the camera, it doesn’t work on cellphones or tablets at all. When I tell them to return it, they said that I have to pay the entire year because of the contract I signed. They will give you false information and after you sign the contract then you will be in trouble.Plus the customer service are pretending as if they are professional but they lie straight to your face. They don’t even care for your time & money. I’m warning you stay away from the Dashcam service. Someone will come under this comment saying “sorry for experiencing inconvenience bla bla…bs” sorry doesn’t mean nothing if you can’t value customers time and money.”
David Hunt suggests displaying the driver’s name under the vehicle number would be helpful when tracking 230 vehicles in one state.
Google Play Review:

“Need to be able to see the drivers name under the vehicle number. When you’re tracking 230 vehicles in one state, the name helps.”
Whitney E., an Administrative Assistant in Real Estate, highly recommends Motive for its user-friendly app and excellent customer service, though she notes it can be a bit expensive for new transportation companies. Despite the cost, she finds it valuable for staying organized and running IFTA reports.
Capterra Review:

“Overall: I’m a huge fan of Motive and would recommend to anyone in trucking or transportation.Pros: I am a huge fan of Motive (formerly Keeptruckin) the customer service is A+++! They are so quick to respond and help guide you or even your drivers to get set up. The app is very user friendly and keeps you on track and organized.
Cons: It can be a little expensive, if you are starting your own Transporation company but this is well worth the money, as you will be glad this app does so much to keep you organized, especially when it is time to run IFTA reports.”

Our Scoring System Explained
Our 8-part scoring system was created to help you understand the potential value of any software we review simply and fairly.
We created it after reviewing dozens of software products, which we covered in depth, but without providing a direct and simple way for readers to compare products on their merits – without spending a lot of time looking through our articles for the information they needed to make an informed decision.
Every app we review will include Customer Support and Company scores, which we’ll explain in more detail below. Many of the factors reviewed in this article will also be consistent across most (or all) of our software reviews, with some differences:
The 8 factors assessed and their contribution to a product’s overall score may differ slightly from product to product based on various factors, such as the use case we’re reviewing for, the type of business these products are tailored to, and other considerations. However, all reviews will feature an 8-part score, weighted and combined to calculate each product’s overall score.
How We Score Software
All factors in our reviews are scored on a 10-point scale – technically 11 points – from 0-10. However, we only give products a score of 0 if it does not include an essential feature at all, and we try to avoid giving out 0 scores if a product can demonstrate any functionality in line with the specific factor being reviewed.
In general, the 0-10 range translates as:
- 9.0 – 10 – One of the absolute best in its category (amazing).
- 7.5 – 8.9 – Very good, but with some minor issues (very good).
- 6.0 – 7.4 – Mediocre performance with notable shortcomings (average).
- 3.0 – 5.9 – This feature is not ready for prime time (borderline).
- 1.0 – 2.9 – This feature actually makes its product worse (unacceptable).
- 0 – The product doesn’t include this important feature at all.
How We Calculate Overall Scores
The 8 factors reviewed are weighted based on an overall total of 100%:
- Ease of Use: 20%
- Time Tracking Accuracy: 20%
- Scheduling Features: 15%
- Job Tracking: 15%
- Integrations: 10%
- Customer Support: 15%
- Company: 5%
Methodology for Each Factor
Ease of Use
We evaluate a product’s ease of use based on three main considerations:
- How easy is it to set up this app?
- How easy is it for managers to use the backend dashboard?
- How easy is it for frontline workers to use the (mobile) app?
These three considerations cover the main ways you and your team would use the software being reviewed – when you first obtain it, when someone (a manager, executive, team leader, or similar role) needs to use it to manage people, money, data, and other things, and when workers you’re tracking use the app (usually a mobile version of the software designed for frontline and/or field team members) to clock in, clock out, record time worked, or address other day-to-day needs.
Time Tracking Accuracy
Every minute matters when you’re trying to control payroll costs. This factor accounts for various features and common needs in time-tracking apps, such as…
- How accurate or precise is its GPS tracking capability?
- How accurate – and how customizable – is its geofencing feature?
- How accurate is its travel and mileage tracking (if available)?
- Can it automatically clock workers in and out based on the above?
- Can you set and/or restrict rules for clocking in and out?
- Can the app continue tracking workers while offline?
- How easy is its mobile app and/or kiosk for frontline workers?
Scheduling Features
Many construction businesses prefer to manage as many aspects of employee labor activity as possible in a single app, which is why many time-tracking apps also include worker scheduling as a core feature.
When we consider a product’s scheduling features, we look at:
- Its dashboard customizability (daily, weekly, or monthly views).
- Its project-based scheduling and visibility.
- Its real-time updates and notifications for workers.
- Its real-time map views of worker locations for best-fit scheduling.
- Its recurring schedule (copies to subsequent weeks, etc.) functionality.
Job Tracking
This factor helps you understand if the software can also provide insight into specific projects, which is particularly handy when your business deals with many customers or clients who generally need shorter-term work. Effective job tracking typically also includes accurate job costing functionality for construction companies.
We assess several things when calculating a product’s job tracking score:
- Its project-based tracking for multiple projects per day/week/etc.
- Its ability to track multiple / many projects simultaneously.
- Its use of (and your ability to customize) construction cost codes.
- Any built-in job costing views.
- Any integrations for cost coding (QuickBooks etc.)
Integrations
No business can operate on a single app, which is why integrations with other apps and tools are such important aspects of modern business software.
To calculate a product’s integration score, we’ll examine:
- How many native integrations (the simplest connection) does it offer?
- How effective and easy-to-use are its integrations with payroll software?
- Does it have robust data import and export features?
Customer Support
Learning how to use a new app can be frustrating, even if it’s meant to be the most user-friendly app around. That’s why great customer support is so essential when considering which time-tracking app to use.
Customer support scores are calculated based on:
- Live support channels available (phone, email, chat, etc.).
- Live support hours (business hours only, 24/7, etc.).
- The strength of the product’s online help center and/or FAQs.
- What other users say about support in online reviews.
Company
A great company with a highly customer-friendly approach can often make up for shortcomings in their software products – at least up to a point.
When assessing this score, we’ll examine:
- Transparency (easy-to-find pricing, etc.)
- Trial period (duration, feature availability, credit card requirements, etc.).
- Subscription flexibility (contracts, required durations, etc.).
- Ease of cancellation or pausing subscriptions.
- Customer perceptions (online product reviews).
- Website (a minor consideration, but great companies tend to have great websites).

Key features of GPS fleet tracking solutions for small businesses include real-time location tracking, route history, geofencing, vehicle health reports, fuel usage monitoring, and driver behavior analytics. These features help in managing costs, improving safety, and optimizing routes.
To use GPS fleet tracking for a small business, start by installing GPS trackers in your fleet vehicles. Set up the tracking system to monitor routes, schedule maintenance, and analyze driver behavior. Use the data collected to optimize routes, reduce idle times, improve safety, and manage operational costs effectively.
While many GPS fleet tracking solutions require a subscription, some providers may offer free trials or limited free versions that can be useful for small businesses to start with. However, for comprehensive features and full functionality, a paid plan is generally necessary.
