Activating Do Not Disturb on your iPhone or Apple device prevents calls, texts, notifications, and pop-ups from coming through during a designated period of time. This will not impact your iPhone’s location services, since they are two completely separate settings.
You will still be able to utilize your GPS and other location-related services as normal. If you’ve granted your friends and family access to your location, they will be also able to access your whereabouts via the Find My app when you have Do Not Disturb activated. (https://spoonerberries.com/)
Do Not Disturb settings have become more advanced over the years as Apple rolled out new iOS updates.
You can now customize who is able to contact you and which apps are able to send you notifications when the feature is turned on. You can also set a Do Not Disturb schedule throughout the week, which will automatically turn on the setting based on your preferences.
Another useful feature that Apple released with the Do Not Disturb functionality is the ability to silence alerts while you’re in a certain location.
You can turn on this setting by taking the following steps:
- Make sure your location services are turned on.
- Swipe down from the upper right corner of your screen to access the Control Center if you have an iPhone X or a later model. You’ll need to swipe from the bottom portion of your screen if you have an older model.
- Click the Do Not Disturb button, which resembles a half-moon.
- Click Until I leave this location for your phone to stay in Do Not Disturb until you exit the location you were in when you turned on the setting.
Overall, Do Not Disturb has many handy features, but will not turn off location services on your iPhone.
