What Time Can Construction Start in Arizona?
Construction start times in Arizona vary by location and season. Maricopa County allows work from 5–7 p.m. in summer and 6–7 p.m. in winter. Goodyear, Queen Creek, and Marana have specific rules, with some weekend and holiday restrictions.
Here’s a breakdown for different areas:
Maricopa County:
Residential Zones (April 15 – October 15): Construction work in or within 500 feet of Rural or Residential zones, or within 1,500 feet of an occupied residence, cannot begin prior to 5 a.m. and must stop by 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Residential Zones (October 16 – April 14): Construction work in or within 500 feet of Rural or Residential zones, or within 1,500 feet of an occupied residence, cannot begin prior to 6 a.m. and must stop by 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Non-Residential Zones: Construction work in Commercial and Industrial zones not within 500 feet of Rural or Residential zones, or within any zone but not within 1,500 feet of an occupied residence, cannot begin prior to 5 a.m. and must stop by 10 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Weekends and Holidays: Construction work subject to the restrictions for residential zones cannot begin prior to 6 a.m. and must stop by 7 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays, and federal holidays.
Goodyear:
Concrete (April 15 – October 15): Concrete may be poured between 5 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily.
Concrete (October 16 – April 14): Concrete may be poured between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily.
Other Work (April 15 – October 15): Construction, landscaping, or repair work in or within 500 feet of a residential zoning district cannot begin prior to 6 a.m. and must stop by 7 p.m. each day.
Other Work (October 16 – April 14): Construction, landscaping, or repair work in or within 500 feet of a residential zoning district cannot begin prior to 7 a.m. and must stop by 7 p.m. each day.
Queen Creek:
Construction activities are prohibited prior to 6 a.m. and after 7 p.m. Monday through Friday from September 16 through May 14.
From May 15 through September 15, construction activities are prohibited prior to 5 a.m. and after 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Construction activities are prohibited prior to 7 a.m. and after 5 p.m. on Saturdays throughout the year.
Construction is prohibited at all times on Sundays and legal holidays.
Marana:
Between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. on weekdays, and between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. on Saturdays, and between 7 p.m. and 9 a.m. on Sundays on any construction site located within 500 feet of any residential zone district construction is prohibited.
Between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. on any construction site located more than 500 feet from any residential zone district construction is prohibited.
Grading and roadway construction is permitted to begin at 6 a.m. and end no later than 7 p.m. in any zoning district.
It is important to note that special permission may be obtained to perform site construction work earlier in the summer months by notifying residents within 500 feet of the site in writing.
