What Time Can Construction Start in Georgia?

Construction start times in Georgia vary by city. Most allow work 7 a.m.–7 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m.–5 p.m. on Saturdays. Atlanta limits noise past 8 p.m., Johns Creek bans work on Sundays and holidays, and Forsyth County prohibits Sunday construction. 

Here’s a general overview:

General Rule: Construction is generally permitted from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. No work is allowed on Sundays or federal holidays.

Atlanta: Construction noise should not be plainly audible within residential zoning districts more than 100 feet beyond the property boundary between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. on weekdays, or between 8 p.m. and 9 a.m. on weekends and legal holidays. The prohibitions of this article do not apply to construction noise between 7 a.m. (or 9 a.m. on a weekend day or legal holiday) and 7 p.m.

Johns Creek: Construction for land disturbance and building activity should not be performed between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. on weekdays, before 8 a.m. or after 5 p.m. on Saturday, or at any time on Sunday, New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day.

Forsyth County: Outside construction is limited to the hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday; 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Saturday; and no outside construction is permitted on Sundays.
