Earlier Warnings, Human Decisions: Workyard Featured in Capterra's Construction AI Report

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 14, 2026 — Workyard has been featured in a new report from Capterra, “Does AI in Construction Management Software Actually Keep Projects on Time and Budget?”, which examines where AI is affecting construction operations, how providers measure its impact and which decisions remain in human hands.

Capterra surveyed 10 construction software providers in 2026. Three reported agentic AI live for customers. One reported beta availability, two had it on the roadmap and four had no plans for autonomous agents.

Adoption was thinner in workflows tied directly to money. Cost forecasting and budget tracking were live at two of the 10 providers surveyed, with two more in beta, while payment, billing and cash-flow prediction was live at one. Workyard was also one of five providers able to measure cost variance against budget at completion.

Among the 10 providers surveyed, none reported fully automated cost forecasts, pay approvals or bid commitments. Capterra found that human control was strongest when a decision could commit money or affect a client relationship.

“The most useful construction AI does not take the final decision away from the contractor,” said Nic De Bonis, CEO and co-founder of Workyard. “It surfaces the right signal earlier, reduces manual work and gives teams more time to act before a small issue becomes a cost or schedule problem.”

That human-in-the-loop model is visible in Workyard’s current products. Available to admins on Autopilot accounts in the web app, Time Assistant reviews a selected pay period, identifies matching time cards and proposes edits for approval. Nothing changes until an administrator approves it. Project Time Tracking Agent detects worksite visits and allocates time to projects using rules configured by the contractor.
